Spices Help with Weight Loss

Spices can do more than just add a special touch to meals. Used correctly, they can help you lose weight.

Chili: In general, spiciness has a positive effect on weight loss. Hot spices like chili, cayenne pepper, or garlic raise body temperature, leading to increased energy expenditure, which in turn causes the body to burn calories.

Cloves: These popular dried flower buds help reduce water retention more quickly. This leads to rapid weight and inch loss. Furthermore, the eugenol contained in cloves has antibacterial properties and prevents inflammation.

Ginger: Ginger is known for its healing properties. But the aromatic root can not only help with colds, it can also be beneficial for shedding pounds. In fact, ginger is a real calorie burner. Like pepper, it also heats up considerably thanks to the pungent compounds gingerol and shogaol, and additionally promotes good digestion.

Cardamom: Just like cinnamon, cardamom is synonymous with the Advent season, as it's often used in baking gingerbread and cookies. But cardamom has much more to offer: It soothes the digestive tract and relieves bloating, cramps, and stomach aches. It also curbs appetite and boosts metabolism.

Coriander: Coriander is a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing. But if you're trying to lose weight, you should definitely include it. Not only the leaves, but also the edible seeds contribute to a flatter stomach. Coriander relieves bloating and stimulates digestion. Furthermore, this spice has a detoxifying effect, helping to eliminate heavy metals.

Turmeric: This trendy all-rounder root has anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties, aids digestion, promotes a balanced gastrointestinal tract, and helps eliminate toxins from the body more quickly. Turmeric is also a fat burner - the spice is said to prevent the formation of new fat cells. The curcumin it contains promotes a feeling of fullness and stimulates bowel activity.

Oregano: Oregano is especially good on pizza. But the plant has other uses as well: Thanks to its many essential oils, such as thymol, the spice has a digestive effect, which is noticeable when digesting the last meals. Oregano is also antibacterial and anti-inflammatory - and thus helps with coughs or sore throats.

Black pepper: A must-have for every spice rack. If you like peppery food and want to lose weight, feel free to add a little extra. This basic spice stimulates the metabolism. Even a mild spiciness increases body temperature, which targets fat reserves on the stomach or hips.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is especially popular during the Christmas season. The dried bark can be beneficial all year round. The many antioxidants it contains help reduce cravings. Regular consumption of cinnamon stabilizes blood sugar levels and reduces fluctuations. And this is the real reason for our strong cravings.
